Elden Ring Nightreign had a rocky start, receiving the lowest critical scores of any FromSoftware title and drawing mixed reviews on Steam. Despite that, it managed to maintain an average peak of 200,000 players on Steam during its launch week and has already sold over 3.5 million copies. One of the main points of criticism has been the steep difficulty curve in solo mode.
In a surprising twist, the director of Elden Ring Nightreign revealed in a recent interview with CNET that he managed to solo every boss in the game without using any Relics a feat that even seasoned Soulsborne veterans would find impressive.
In his recent conversation with CNET, Junya Ishizaki touched on various elements of Elden Ring Nightreign’s development. But when the topic shifted to the game’s difficulty, he dropped a surprising revelation about his own playthrough:
Yes. I can hopefully give you reassurance to know that I have beaten all of the game’s bosses,” said Ishizaki. “I’ve seen everything it has to offer, both in multiplayer and as a solo player. So I want you and players to know that this is very possible, and I want you to have the confidence to give it a try yourself.
When asked to elaborate on his bold claim, Ishizaki confirmed that he soloed every boss without using any Relics. In many ways, this puts the ongoing debate about the solo mode’s difficulty to rest even for players like me. It leaves us with the classic Soulsborne mantra: “Get Good.” If the game’s own director can beat every boss without Relics, it’s hard to argue that the challenge is unfair.
Don’t be too disheartened by this revelation FromSoftware has acknowledged the feedback and made adjustments to the solo experience in the latest Elden Ring Nightreign patch. Clearly, you’re not alone in feeling that the solo mode needed some balancing, even if a few players with “elite gaming genes” powered through untouched.
