In Nightreign, Relics are gear you can equip that permanently boost your Nightfarer’s stats and abilities. You earn them as rewards after each expedition, with their quality reflecting how far you’ve advanced through the game’s three-day cycle. While most Relics you receive are randomly generated, defeating a Nightlord boss for the first time in an expedition grants you a unique special Relic.
Relics come in three different tiers: Delicate, Polished, and Grand. Delicate Relics are the most basic, offering just one passive bonus. Polished Relics step it up by granting two bonuses, while Grand Relics are the best, delivering three passive benefits.
In terms of gameplay, Relics work much like Talismans in the original Elden Ring. Their bonuses stay active as long as you have the Relic equipped, and these boosts can vary from increased attack power to better damage resistance, covering a wide range of enhancements.
Elden Ring Nightreign Relic Rites Breakdown
Relic Rites act as holders where you slot your Relics. Each Relic Rite features three differently colored slots, and to activate a Relic’s passive bonuses, you need to match its color with the corresponding slot. Relics come in four colors: Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow. For example, Wylder’s initial Relic Rite includes two red slots and one blue slot, so you’d need to equip two red Relics and one blue Relic to fill it properly.
You can insert Relics into these vessels by using the Relic Rite altar located near the Table of Lost Grand at the Roundtable Hold. Each character class comes with its own set of Relic Rites, and you also have the option to buy additional ones from the Small Jar Bazaar.
As you progress through expeditions, special vessels featuring uncolored slots will unlock at the bazaar. Likewise, you can purchase Relics by choosing from randomly generated bonus options.
