Now that the highly anticipated Nothing Phone 2a (review) has been unveiled, we can take a closer look at all it has to offer. While the phone’s design and specifications mark a departure from what we’ve seen from the brand before, the experience of using Nothing OS 2.5 feels similar to what we experienced with the Phone 2. One new addition to Nothing OS on the Phone 2a is “Wallpaper Studio,” which enables the creation of unique AI wallpapers. Let’s explore how you can use it.
Creating AI Wallpapers on Nothing Phone 2a
AI wallpapers are not a new concept, as we saw them in the Pixel 8 series last year and more recently with the Galaxy S24 lineup. However, this appears to be the first instance of such a feature being included in the sub-Rs 25,000 mid-range segment.
I had the opportunity to use the device a couple of weeks before its launch, and I’m quite impressed with this simple AI wallpaper feature. It allows you to create custom wallpapers in addition to the official Phone 2a wallpapers. Let me demonstrate how the Wallpaper Studio feature on the Nothing Phone 2a works.
1. Long press on the home screen and choose Customisation.
2. Select More Wallpapers and then Wallpaper Studio.
3. Tap Create to generate a new wallpaper.
4. Swipe left and right to mix and match different effects and styles like sky, iridescence, painting, black and white, and more.
5. Tap Create Button again and wait for the wallpaper to be generated after making your selections.
6. If you’re satisfied with the image, tap Set as wallpaper.
7. Press the checkmark in the top right corner on the next screen.
8. Finally, tap Done to apply the wallpaper to your Phone.
You’ve completed the process! Your AI wallpaper is now set on your device. If you’re not happy with the result, tap Recreate to try again. You can download the generated wallpaper by tapping the download icon in the top right corner.

During my experience with the Nothing Phone 2a, I experimented with various combinations and created some incredible AI wallpapers. Here are some of my favorite creations. If you find any of them appealing, use the Google Drive link below to download their high-quality versions.

As of now, the Wallpaper Studio feature appears to be exclusive to the Phone 2a, but it may be extended to the Nothing Phone 2 and Phone 1 through later updates. The implementation of this feature by Nothing offers limited options for customization, but it is straightforward. Unlike having to scroll through a list of options, you already have an idea of the kind of wallpaper you might get.
While the implementation is elegant, I find it a bit too simplistic for my taste. With a few tweaks, such as more color options and effects, it could be perfect. Currently, I prefer the prompt editor for creating wallpapers, which is available on Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices.
That being said, would you use this feature actively if you had the Phone 2a, or would you stick to downloading your usual third-party wallpaper app? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
I spent over three hours reading the internet today, and I haven’t come across any more compelling articles than yours. I think it’s more than worth it. I believe that the internet would be much more helpful than it is now if all bloggers and website proprietors produced stuff as excellent as you did.
