Google’s powerful Nano Banana image-editing model has officially arrived in Google Lens and NotebookLM. Previously available only in the Gemini app for photo editing and creation, this new update allows users to instantly capture a photo through Google Lens and ask Nano Banana to generate something fresh and creative.
Users can also take selfies and enter prompts to transform their images into different artistic styles. Simply open the Google app, tap the Lens icon, and you’ll notice a new “Create” tab at the bottom powered by the Nano Banana model. The Google Lens Nano Banana update is currently rolling out across the US and India, with availability expanding over the next few days.
NotebookLM Integrates Nano Banana for Video Overviews
Additionally, Google has embedded Nano Banana into NotebookLM. Back in July, Google launched Video Overviews in NotebookLM, allowing users to make narrated slideshows. Now, Nano Banana enhances this feature by producing detailed, context-based illustrations for these videos.
Users can pick from six unique art styles — Watercolor, Papercraft, Anime, Whiteboard, Retro Print, and Heritage. Nano Banana will craft the visuals, while NotebookLM compiles the finished video. Moreover, users can select between a long-form Explainer or a short Brief video format.
The NotebookLM update is first being released to Pro users this week, followed by all users in the upcoming weeks. Meanwhile, Google confirms that Nano Banana will soon debut in Google Photos as well.
