Google has officially launched Gemini Live, its new conversational AI, several months after its teaser at I/O 2024. Unlike traditional voice assistants or text-to-speech chatbots, Gemini Live offers a more dynamic conversational experience, allowing for interruptions and pauses with the ability to resume conversations later. It directly competes with OpenAI’s Advanced Voice Mode, which is currently available to a limited group of alpha users.
In contrast, Google has outpaced OpenAI by making Gemini Live available to all Advanced users. By subscribing to Gemini Advanced for $20 per month, you can access Gemini Live immediately. Currently, Gemini Live is only available on Android phones and supports English. Google has announced that Gemini Live will expand to iOS and support additional languages in the coming weeks.
Here’s how you can access Gemini Live on Android phones right now.

Please note that Gemini Live may not be available to all users immediately, as Google is gradually rolling out the feature. Additionally, the option to use the camera during Gemini Live conversations is not yet available, but it is expected to be added in the future.
