Lenovo Launches Snapdragon X Mini PCs to Rival the Mac Mini

At CES 2025, Lenovo unveiled two compact desktop PCs powered by Qualcomm’s Arm-based Snapdragon X chipsets. These Windows mini PCs feature a sleek, small form factor similar to the Mac Mini, offering powerful performance in a minimalist design.

The first model, the Lenovo ThinkCentre neo 50q QC, is equipped with either the 8-core Snapdragon X Plus or the newly released Snapdragon X chipset, though the exact SKU remains undisclosed. It includes multiple connectivity options, such as USB, HDMI, LAN, and DisplayPort, making it easy to connect monitors and peripherals. Additionally, it features Wi-Fi 6E support and comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM.

The second model, the Lenovo IdeaCentre Mini x, is powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor. While Lenovo has also kept its exact SKU under wraps, this mini PC offers configurations with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. It also boasts next-generation Wi-Fi 7 support, making it a cutting-edge option for those seeking high-speed connectivity and robust multitasking capabilities.

Both Snapdragon mini PCs are Copilot+ devices, equipped with a built-in NPU capable of performing AI operations at up to 45 TOPS. They will receive new Windows 11 AI features, including Recall, Generative Fill in MS Paint, and Cocreator. However, they are not fan-less and require active cooling.

Lenovo has announced availability details for its new mini PCs. The ThinkCentre neo 50q QC will launch in February 2025, with a starting price of approximately $849. Meanwhile, the IdeaCentre Mini x is set to arrive in April 2025, starting at $659.

Qualcomm canceled its Snapdragon Dev Kit after months of delays, ultimately shipping it to a few customers before abruptly discontinuing the product. Lenovo has now taken the lead in expanding Snapdragon-powered mini-PCs within the Windows ecosystem, positioning itself as a potential competitor to Apple’s Mac Mini.
