Update (as of May 14, 2025): Following the initial report, Gurman has shared additional details on X. He states that the upcoming iPhone is codenamed “glasswing” due to its all-glass, curved design. The front camera and Face ID sensors will be integrated into the display, and the device is currently being developed in China.
We already know that Apple is set to launch a slim device called the iPhone 17 Air later this year. Recently, it was revealed that the company is also developing smart glasses equipped with multiple cameras. Now, it seems Apple has additional plans in the pipeline including a curved iPhone among other upcoming products expected over the next few years.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to refresh its iPhone lineup to mark the iPhone’s 20th anniversary in 2027. The most notable detail from the report is the company’s plan to create a “mostly glass, curved iPhone.” However, it’s not the kind of curve you might expect unlike the curved displays found on monitors. Apple’s goal is to design a truly bezel-less device, featuring “no cutouts” at all.
This could point to an iPhone completely wrapped in glass, giving the display a seamless appearance possibly resembling the design of Samsung’s Galaxy S20. In addition to the curved iPhone, Apple might also introduce its long-rumored foldable iPhone by 2027. According to Gurman, the foldable model will feature a titanium frame and a display crease that’s “nearly invisible.”
Another product currently in development is Apple’s smart glasses. The company is designing a custom chip for them, based on Apple Watch processors. These glasses will support Apple Intelligence and Visual Intelligence, enabling them to understand your surroundings and respond to context-aware queries. Apple is also reportedly exploring the integration of cameras into the AirPods and Apple Watch, aiming to expand AI capabilities across more of its devices.
There’s growing anticipation that Siri could finally receive its long-awaited AI upgrade. This update is expected to leverage large language models (LLMs) to offer a generative, more conversational experience. Powering this shift could be a new wave of AI server chips based on Apple Silicon. Lastly, the potential roadmap hints at a tabletop Apple robot that may include a robotic arm and an integrated AI assistant.
