Apple’s WWDC 2024 has arrived, bringing the highly anticipated iOS 18 with it. The new iPhone operating system is packed with exciting AI features, elevating everyone’s excitement. While most users will have to wait until September for the official public release, tech-savvy individuals eager to explore the latest features can enroll in Apple’s Developer Beta program and install the iOS 18 Developer Beta on their iPhones right now. Here’s how.
Note: This is the first developer preview of iOS 18, and it may contain bugs that could cause your iPhone to glitch during daily usage. We do not recommend installing the iOS 18 developer beta on your primary device.
Installing iOS 18 Developer Beta on iPhone
To install the iOS 18 developer beta on your iPhone, you need to be a member of Apple’s developer program, but you don’t have to pay the $99 annual membership fee. Once you enroll your Apple ID in the program, the option to download the latest beta will appear directly in the Settings app. Previously, you needed to activate a beta profile on your iPhone to access beta updates. Fortunately, installing the developer beta is much easier now.
Here are the steps to install the iOS 18 developer beta on iPhone:
- Download the (Free) Apple Developer app from the App Store.
- Open the Developer app, tap on the Account tab at the bottom, and hit the Sign In button.
- Sign in with your Apple ID, at that point tap “Enroll Now.”
- On the ‘Program Membership Benefits’ screen, tap Continue, agree to the prerequisites, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: The iOS 18 developer beta is approximately 6.78GB in size. It took approximately 15-20 minutes to install the latest iOS 18. However, the installation time and download speed may vary based on your internet connection.
- Once completed, navigate to Settings -> General -> Software Update.
- Here, select “Beta Updates” and opt for iOS 18 Developer Beta.
- Finally, tap “Update Now” to install the iOS 18 developer beta on your iPhone.
The first developer betas were released immediately after the WWDC 2024 keynote event. The public betas are expected to be available by the end of June or early July.
