If you own an iPhone, today’s a big deal Apple revealed a major redesign for iOS at WWDC 2025. The new design style for iOS 26 has been named Liquid Glass.
True to its name, the Liquid Glass design brings a sleek, glass-inspired interface that will transform how you experience and navigate your iPhone’s operating system.
Liquid Glass introduces a transparent, glass-like appearance across the board; icons, menus, lock screen, and widgets all get the treatment. The iOS 26 redesign features a consistent glassmorphic style throughout, enhanced by lively, springy animations. Additionally, there’s a new “Clear” theme (shown below) designed to highlight the see-through glass effect.
Alongside the clear, glass-inspired theme, the Liquid Glass design also updates several stock apps. The camera app features a cleaner, more straightforward layout, and one of the lock screen clocks can now expand to fill the entire screen. Plus, you can enable spatial scenes to give your lock screen wallpapers a dynamic 3D effect.
The Phone app now allows you to pin contacts and screen calls to help block spam. It also introduces a new Hold Assist feature that can stay on hold for you while you focus on other important tasks.
The Messages app now lets you customize backgrounds and even create polls. Apple Intelligence can step in to suggest when a poll might be useful. Plus, you can finally clean up your Messages list by hiding messages from unknown senders.
With this update, controls and other UI elements appear much cleaner. The tab bar now floats above the background content, which is especially noticeable in apps like Apple Music, News, and Podcasts. Menus and options also dynamically stretch and shrink to blend seamlessly with the rest of the Liquid Glass design.
Apple Intelligence is also getting some welcome upgrades. Now, you can combine two emojis in Genmoji to create a brand-new one. For even more customization, you can use ChatGPT to add text prompts and generate a personalized emoji.
All these features are part of the new iOS 26, following Apple’s recent shift to a year-based naming system for its OS lineup. The update will be available for iPhone 11 and newer models, while Apple Intelligence features will be exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro and later. This story is still unfolding, so keep an eye on Beebom for the latest WWDC 25 updates.
