Apple Unveils iOS 18 Featuring Customizable Home Screen and Enhanced Control Center

During WWDC 2024, Apple introduced the highly anticipated iOS 18. This update, as hinted by prominent sources, is touted as one of the most significant iOS updates in years. iOS 18 features a customizable home screen and a redesigned Control Center. Alongside design enhancements, Apple has included a new Control API in iOS 18, enabling users to integrate third-party controls for convenient access to various functions within third-party apps.

iOS 18 now allows locking individual apps, a feature common in Android devices. The redesigned Control Center is the major update, offering multiple swipeable pages with enhanced media and home controls. Third-party developers can integrate actions through the Control API. The Photos app has also been updated, displaying recent “important” photos in the “Recent Days” tab and introducing a cinematic Carousel view for photo browsing.

iOS 18 introduces a Game Mode catering to gamers, enhancing game controller and AirPods support while optimizing for improved FPS and performance. Text effects, Apple Maps, and Wallet app improvements are among the other features. Additionally, RCS messaging support has been integrated as promised, with the ‘Send Later’ feature now available in the Messages app.
