Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree features some of the most exceptional boss fights in the game, as well as some notably poor ones. These include bosses that offer an incredible challenge and interesting encounters. After working my way through Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, I decided to create a top-tier list of all bosses. So, let’s examine the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree boss tier list.
Note: Bosses that appear multiple times throughout the game are mentioned only once, with the exception of the Divine Beast Dancing Lion in the Ancient Ruins of Rhua. Additionally, this tier list focuses solely on the unique bosses introduced in the DLC and does not include any bosses from the base game.
- Promised Consort Radahn / Radahn, Consort of Miquella
- Messmer the Impaler / Base Serpent Messmer
- Bayle the Dread
The three Elden Ring bosses that stand out as the most challenging and possibly provide the best experience in the Soulsborne series are:
Promised Consort Radahn is the hardest boss in the game and does justice to Radahn’s original lore in the story. Bayle the Dread is easily the best dragon fight in the FromSoftware franchise, surpassing Darkeater Midir, and is equally challenging.
Messmer the Impaler is easier than the other two S-tier bosses mentioned, but the setting and execution of the boss fight are perfectly done, making it one of the most memorable fights in the game.
A-Tier Bosses of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
- Rellana, Twin Moon Knight
- Scadutree Avatar
- Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame
- Divine Beast Dancing Lion
- Putrescent Knight
- Commander Gaius
All the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree A-Tier bosses are exceptionally well executed in the game while being very challenging but in a fair manner. Rellana nearly made it to the S-tier, but she fell short primarily due to her fight lacking the cinematic flair seen in the other S-tier bosses.
Divine Beast Dancing Lion is a very good introductory boss in the DLC. He initially appears to be unbeatable, but after enduring a few deaths, you can clearly see the well-thought-out move sets implemented by FromSoftware.
Alongside them, Midra, Putrescent Knight, Gaius, and Scadutree Avatar are also well-thought-out fights and challenging in their own ways.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree B-Tier Bosses
- Death Knight
- Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze
- Followers of Miquella
- Curseblade Labirith
- Ghostflame Dragon
- The Lamenter
- Ancient Dragon-Man
The B-tier bosses in the game introduce something new to the fight but are not very challenging. Death Knight is a standout in this tier, just missing out on the A tier as he is not a unique boss in the DLC.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree C-Tier Bosses
- Metyr, Mother of Fingers
- Romina, Saint of the Bud
- Great Red Bears
- Blackgoal Knight
- Rakshasa
- Chief Bloodfiend
- Divine Beast Dancing Lion (Death Blight version)
- Ancient Dragon Senessax
- Jori, The Elder Inquisitor
- Black Knight Edredd
C-tier bosses tend to be relatively easy to overcome, lacking in cinematic buildup, or simply not very engaging. Metyr, Mother of Fingers, and Romina, Saint of the Bud are prominent bosses in the DLC, but their fight execution is less impressive, resulting in them being much easier compared to the other bosses in the game.
The Divine Beast Dancing Lion (Death Blight version) is essentially the same as the original Dancing Lion fight, with the Death Blight phase added. The boss needed more unique features, which is why it is in the C-tier.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree D-Tier Bosses
- Golden Hippopotamus
- Dancer of Ranah
- Jagged Peak Drake
- Count Ymir, Mother of Fingers
The D-tier bosses in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree are the least impressive for various reasons.
Golden Hippopotamus presents a highly challenging encounter, but it’s difficult for all the wrong reasons. The fight occurs in a small room with minimal movement space, and the camera angle during the fight is simply dreadful.
Count Ymir and Dancer of Ranah were both far too easy to consider for any tier above D. Jagged Peak Drake is merely a reskin of the base game dragons, and I even debated whether to include it in this tier list.
And that concludes the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree boss tier list. In addition to these main bosses, there are many other Elden Ring bosses to battle. Do you agree with our rankings?
