Pipe Network Unveils PipeQuest Rewards to Power Decentralized Internet on Solana

Solana-based Pipe Network is incentivizing users who contribute bandwidth to test its decentralized content delivery network (CDN).

At the Token2049 conference in Dubai on May 1, Pipe Network introduced a new incentive program to reward node operators who contribute computing power to its decentralized content delivery network (CDN) built on Solana. The initiative, named PipeQuest, is designed to foster engagement with the network’s testnet in anticipation of its mainnet launch, scheduled for summer 2025.

Through PipeQuest, Pipe Network will incentivize node operators, encourage community participation, and drive early demand for the decentralized CDN infrastructure, which aims to provide faster, more scalable solutions than traditional off-chain systems.

Pipe Network Aims to Build a Decentralized Internet on Solana

The ultimate goal of Pipe Network is to create a scalable decentralized ecosystem where users can seamlessly share data, stream content, and carry out everyday online activities without depending on expensive, centralized data centers controlled by big tech companies. By building on Solana, Pipe Network seeks to offer a more efficient, cost-effective, and decentralized alternative to the current internet infrastructure.

One of the key advantages of Pipe Network is its ability to transform almost any device into a Point of Presence (PoP) node. This means that personal computers, laptops, and even mobile devices can contribute idle computing power, allowing users to earn rewards while helping power the network.

The decentralized nature of these smaller nodes also brings the benefit of reduced latency. By being closer to end users, these nodes can lead to faster ping times and quicker content loading. During his presentation at the Token2049 event, David Rhodus, founder of Permissionless Labs, the company behind Pipe Network, highlighted how this setup can greatly improve content delivery and user experience.

So far, the Pipe Network has onboarded over 200,000 Point of Presence (PoP) nodes, consisting of individual devices. These devices have uploaded more than 200,000 files and stored a total of 250 terabytes of data, contributing to the network’s growing decentralized infrastructure.
