Helio Enhances Shopify Crypto Payments with Solana Pay

Helio has introduced a new Solana Pay plugin to enable cryptocurrency payments for millions of Shopify merchants.

The Web3 payments company announced the update on Thursday, highlighting expanded token support, enhanced loyalty programs, and seamless integration for users.

Helio Unveils Upgraded Solana Pay Plugin

Helio reports that there are currently over 350,000 unique active wallets and more than 5,000 merchants using its platform.

The Solana Pay plugin upgrade could allow millions of Shopify merchants to effortlessly accept cryptocurrency payments across a diverse array of crypto assets.

With the upgrade, Shopify merchants using the Solana Pay plugin can now accept cryptocurrency payments and benefit from real-time conversion and settlement through stablecoins, including Circle’s USDC and EURC, as well as PayPal’s PYUSD. The plugin also supports USDY, Ondo Finance’s tokenized note.

Additionally, Solana Pay integrates with leading wallets such as Phantom, Solfire, Coinbase, and OKX.

Helio is confident that the update has the potential to onboard millions of merchants into crypto commerce, revolutionizing e-commerce payments.

Key aspects of this growth include improvements to user experience and enhancements to customer loyalty programs. Solana is seen as the ideal blockchain network to support this evolution.

Crypto holders represent a rapidly growing global consumer segment, with over 100 million active wallets. Solana’s low fees and fast transactions make it perfect for consumer payments,” said Stijn Paumen, co-founder and CEO of Helio.

Shopify merchants can now easily connect with this audience by installing Solana Pay with just a few clicks, allowing them to accept USDC and hundreds of other digital assets at minimal fees. Integrating faster-than-card crypto payments into the largest e-commerce platform is a significant step toward the mass adoption of cryptocurrency payments,” Paumen added.

Merchants Embrace Low-Fee Crypto Payments

Adoption of the plugin has surged with the expansion of the Web3 payments industry, especially in the stablecoins market. The update introduces new features such as support for NFTs, loyalty programs, and receipts and tickets, potentially driving further interest.

Solana Pay, which enables Shopify merchants to accept low-fee crypto payments (with a 0.75% fee), processed nearly $50 million in transactions with its previous version.

Helio reports that transactions span across 200 stores, with merchants saving over $1 million in fees.

Brands currently using the new Solana Pay plugin include Helium Mobile and FSL (STEPN GO and MOOAR).
