Snapchat continually updates its app to keep things exciting and enjoyable. One recent addition is Lightning Snaps, which offers a preview of less than one second for your Snaps and stories. Intrigued? In this guide, we’ll dive into what Lightning Snaps is and how to use it.
What is Lightning Snaps on Snapchat?
As mentioned earlier, Lightning Snaps lets you set a preview timer of less than one second. Here’s how it works: when you create a Snap, you can now choose a preview duration of 0.10, 0.25, or 0.50 seconds, instead of the previous range from 1 second to infinity.
Your friends will need to view your Snaps in a flash before they disappear. Please note that this feature is available only to Snapchat+ subscribers.
Send Lightning Snaps on Snapchat
If you’re eager to try out this new feature and create your own Lightning Snap, simply follow these steps.
- Open Snapchat, navigate to the camera tab, and take a photo by pressing the Shutter button.
- Tap the stopwatch icon on the right.
- Choose a preview duration from the new options (.10, .25, or .50 seconds) and select your preferred time.
- Finally, tap the Send To button to share the Snap with friends or select Stories to add it to your Snapchat story.
Your friends will only be able to view your Snap for the duration you’ve selected.
That’s how simple it is to send a lightning-fast Snap. I can already imagine using it to tease my friends or grab their attention sort of like the Poke feature on Facebook but for Snapchat. The only downside is that it’s currently exclusive to Snapchat Plus subscribers. If you’re a member, I definitely recommend giving it a try.
