Android 14 Compatible Devices and Release Timeline

The imminent arrival of Android 14 has garnered considerable anticipation after undergoing two developer previews and numerous Beta updates for Pixel devices. While Google’s Pixel series, starting with the Pixel 4a 5G, is set to receive the Android 14 update promptly, several other manufacturers such as Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and more have initiated their Android 14 Beta programs and are likely to roll out the update shortly after Google’s release. Let’s take a closer look at Android 14-compatible devices and the expected release timelines for various manufacturers.

Google Pixel Devices

All Pixel devices from the Pixel 4a 5G to the latest Pixel 7, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet are slated to receive the Android 14 update. While Pixel devices typically receive three years of major software updates and two years of security patches, rumors suggest that Google may extend its update policy starting with the Pixel 8 series, offering five years of major software updates and an additional two years of security updates.

If you’re holding out hope for the Pixel 4a to receive Android 14, it’s unlikely as it has already reached the end of its update cycle. However, many wish that Google would grant the Pixel 4a one final update, considering its popularity as one of the best budget devices of its era. While the Android 14 update was initially slated for release on Pixels this month, numerous sources indicate a delay to the following month, specifically October, possibly aligning with the unveiling of the Pixel 8 series on October 4.

Samsung Galaxy Devices

Samsung has been notably efficient in delivering software updates, and the Android 14 update should follow suit. Samsung is currently testing the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 Beta on supported smartphones, and the testing phase is nearing its conclusion. Consequently, Samsung’s flagship devices may receive the update as early as October, while upper mid-range devices could follow in November and December. Budget devices from Samsung may expect the update in the first quarter of 2024.

Xiaomi Devices

Xiaomi, despite having a less-than-stellar reputation for software updates, has taken a step in the right direction by participating in the Android 14 Beta program for some of its flagship smartphones. In an effort to improve its update policy, the company has announced that it will now provide four guaranteed updates for its flagship devices, starting with the Xiaomi 13 series.

While the following list is not official, it is based on the updates these devices have already received and Xiaomi’s commitment to updates. Android 14 is expected to roll out to these Xiaomi devices in the coming two months, specifically in October and November.
