As The Finals player base continues to expand, developers return from the holiday break with a swift release of a minor patch. With no delay, Embark has deployed an update to tackle a growing concern within The Finals community. This patch focuses on addressing the overpowering aim assist, ensuring a significant nerf. Explore the aim assist modifications and other nerfs introduced in The Finals version 1.4.1 update.
The Finals: Aim-Assist Changes
As per the official blog, The Finals developers address aim assist concerns in a patch. The update decreases camera magnetism from 50% to 35%, resulting in less sticky aiming and reduced controller accuracy.
Additionally, significant alterations are made to zoom snapping, affecting aim assist. The maximum cap on zoom snapping angular velocity is introduced, preventing unintended rapid 90-degree turns. This adjustment ensures fairness for mouse users aiming to prevent sudden turns.
Aim assist exclusion for zoom snapping is implemented for SR-84 Sniper Rifle, Revolver, LH1, and all Shotguns. This promotes an even playing field for users of these weapons. Medium class builds using ARs retain zoom snapping, but the time is reduced to 0.25s from 0.3s.
The patch also addresses a known bug where aim assist allowed players to snap onto invisible enemies without detection. This ensures players no longer shoot at invisible units in empty spaces or other enemies. However, shooting at invisible players remains possible if detected.
The Finals: 3rd Party Aim-Assist Removed
Previously, even M&K players in The Finals resorted to using various means to exploit aim assist for an added advantage. Third-party clients like rewasd and similar applications are now prohibited from utilizing aim assist.
These apps typically remap the keyboard as a controller. With aim assist no longer available through these apps, M&K players won’t be able to access aim assist without an actual controller.
Given the widespread concerns about aim assist, Embark has taken an initial step, addressing the issue positively. Additionally, Embark has hinted at introducing new content in the upcoming weeks.
