YouTube frequently conducts tests for new features, with many of the recent experiments centered around AI technology. In a recent trial, the video-streaming platform explored the use of AI to generate video summaries, and now, there’s a new test underway that aims to employ AI for summarizing comments. Here are the specifics of this latest development.
AI-Generated YouTube Comments
YouTube’s latest experimental feature aims to employ AI to summarize and categorize the comments section, especially in cases where there is a substantial volume of comments. This innovation will simplify the process of finding specific comments for users and offer creators an improved way to manage the comments they receive.
Currently, the AI-powered comment summary feature is accessible to a limited group of Premium users on Android and iOS platforms. YouTube Premium users can check the Premium benefits section under their username to see if this feature is available for them to try.

If you have access to this feature, simply tap the ‘try it out‘ option to get started. You can then visit the comments section of any video and use the three-dotted menu to sort comments by topic. It’s worth noting that, at the time of writing, the option to sort comments by topic may not be available.
In addition to the comment summarization feature, YouTube is also testing an ‘Ask‘ option for videos, which uses AI to provide answers to questions related to the video’s content. This feature will be available to some users on select English videos and is part of YouTube Premium, but currently limited to Android.
The release date and availability of these features for all users remain uncertain. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available, so stay tuned for further developments. We’re interested in hearing your thoughts on these new AI features that YouTube is testing, so please feel free to share your feedback in the comments section below.
