Your Netflix Subscription Will Become More Expensive In 2025.

Less than a month into 2025, streaming price hikes have begun, starting with Netflix. The company has announced increased subscription charges for all its popular plans, effective with the next billing cycle.

This update comes from Netflix’s Q4 2024 earnings report released on Tuesday, which stated, “we are adjusting prices today across most plans.” The price increases will affect users in the US, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina. Here are the new Netflix subscription rates:

  • Ad-supported plan: $6.99 to $7.99
  • Standard plan: $15.49 to $17.99
  • Premium plan: $22.99 to $24.99

According to Netflix, the price hike is necessary to “continue investing in programming and deliver more value for our members,” as stated in their letter to investors.

This is the first price increase for the ad-supported tier since its launch in 2022. Netflix is also introducing a new Extra Member with Ads plan, allowing users with an ad subscription to add another member to their household, a feature previously exclusive to the standard plan costing $7.99.

Last year, the company experienced a successful quarter, gaining 19 million new subscribers and reaching a total of 300 million users worldwide, largely due to popular shows like the new season of Squid Games.
