The lineup will reportedly feature the familiar models – Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro.
It has been less than a month since the Xiaomi Pad 8 series debuted in China, yet reports suggest that the brand is already preparing the Pad 9 series for both Chinese and global markets. A new leak has revealed details about the models and their regional availability.
Xiaomi Pad 9 is set to launch in India, but the Pad 9 Pro may not make it.
According to tech outlet XiaomiTime, new findings in Xiaomi’s internal database confirm that the Xiaomi Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro are under development. The company has assigned “Erhu” and “Guitar” as their respective codenames.

Additionally, the listing indicates where these Android tablets will be sold worldwide. As expected, the Pad 9 lineup will first debut in China, followed by launches in the EEA, Turkey, Indonesia, Taiwan, Russia, and India.
However, the noteworthy point is that India will only receive the Pad 9, while all other listed regions will get both models. This pattern isn’t new — previous generations, including the Pad 6 and Pad 7 series, also introduced only the standard variant in India.
Similarly, the recently launched Pad 8 series in China is expected to bring just the Pad 8 to India. Therefore, for the fourth time in a row, Xiaomi appears to be skipping the Pro model in the country, which might disappoint fans waiting for the brand’s top-tier tablet.

In terms of specifications, the Pad 9 series is expected to offer an 11.2-inch 3.2K 144Hz LCD display, over 9,000mAh battery, HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, smart accessories support, and more.
That said, since these details haven’t been officially confirmed yet, it’s best to take them with caution. We’ll update once more reliable information surfaces. For now, the wait continues for the official Xiaomi Pad 8 India launch confirmation.
