WhatsApp is gearing up to introduce some exciting new features for Android users, aiming to enhance the messaging experience. The messaging platform, owned by Meta, has been testing three new features across various beta versions, and here’s what they have in store:
Safety Tools Feature
In the latest WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.23.16.6, a new Safety Tools feature is being introduced. This feature will guide new users on the safety aspects of WhatsApp. It will provide information on dealing with messages from unknown numbers, giving the option to block or report such numbers to protect privacy. Additionally, users will learn how to turn off read receipts to prevent others from knowing if their messages have been read or not. A link will also be provided to access more safety-related information on the platform.
Redesigned Search Bar
WhatsApp is testing a redesigned search bar in the 2.23.16.5 update. The new design will align with Material You 3, presenting options like Unread, Photos, Videos, GIFs, and more in bubbles, resulting in a clean and streamlined appearance. Although currently available to a few beta testers, there’s no official word on when this update will be rolled out to all users.
Forward to New Group
Another upcoming feature is “Forward to New Group,” which will enable users to create a new group while forwarding a message. This feature aims to save time and make it easier for users to form groups around specific topics. At present, the feature is only accessible to a limited number of beta users.
While there’s no specific timeline for the release of these features to all Android users, WhatsApp is known for regularly introducing new updates. So, it’s likely that these features will be available soon. Stay tuned for further updates, and don’t forget to share your thoughts on which feature you’re most excited about in the comments below.
