WhatsApp Enhances Privacy with ‘Secret Code’ Addition to Chat Lock!

WhatsApp’s latest update introduces the Secret Code feature, enhancing the security of the existing Chat Lock. When used in conjunction, these features offer dual layers of protection for your private chats.

So, what’s the deal with the Secret Code? It allows you to establish a personalized password specifically for your locked chats. Unlike the previous lock relying on Face ID, passcodes, or fingerprints, this is an additional layer of security, making it notably challenging for unauthorized users to access your secured chats.

To regain access to your locked chats, you’ll have to input the secret code into WhatsApp’s search bar. Only then will your previously hidden conversations reappear. Your secret code can be a combination of phrases, emojis, or both, similar to what’s depicted in the image. However, entering this code is necessary before gaining access to your concealed chats. Additionally, if you’ve set up a chat lock password previously, you’ll also need to input that.

Previously, Meta introduced the chat lock feature on WhatsApp, allowing users to secure personal conversations using a password, Face ID, or fingerprint. Setting up chat lock on WhatsApp for Android and iOS involves just a few simple steps.

For those not familiar, once you activate chat lock in WhatsApp for a conversation, notifications won’t display message content or contact details. Initially, the chat lock feature seemed sufficient, making the addition of the secret code feel like an extra layer of security. However, enhanced security and privacy features are widely sought after, and many users appreciate these improvements.

WhatsApp has officially announced the rollout of the new Secret Code feature, starting today. Check your WhatsApp application, you might have received the update already! If not, don’t fret, as Meta has confirmed that “in the coming months, [Chat Lock] will be available globally.”

Are you inclined to use the new quirky Secret Code feature for your locked chats in WhatsApp? What are your thoughts on Meta’s efforts to prioritize additional security features like this? Feel free to voice your thoughts in the comment section!
