Vivo Unveils Self-Developed BlueOS Following Xiaomi’s HyperOS

It appears to be a season of self-developed operating systems by various brands! Xiaomi recently introduced HyperOS to replace MIUI, and now Vivo has announced its self-developed BlueOS at the 2023 Vivo Developer conference. BlueOS is primarily designed for smart wearables and smart home devices. Let’s delve into what you should be aware of.

Details of Vivo BlueOS

Vivo’s BlueOS is unique in that it’s based on the Rust programming language, which is a first in the industry. It’s designed to be compatible with multiple Posix standard kernels, Linux kernels, and RTOS kernels. The operating system also incorporates an AI service engine for compatibility with various large AI models.

BlueOS aims to support a wide range of functionalities, including code generation, image and text generation, and other AI-based capabilities. User experience and privacy are top priorities, and the use of the Rust language in the system framework is intended to make the OS less susceptible to security issues. The OS boasts a 48% improvement in rendering efficiency and a 67% reduction in memory consumption. It’s designed to work on devices with processors ranging from 200MHz with 32MB of RAM to 4GHz with 24MB of RAM, making it versatile for a variety of devices.

BlueOS is set to deliver improvements in various aspects, including faster app launching, smoother app switching, enhanced motion rendering, faster list scrolling, and reduced loading times. It introduces new smart interactions, including voice-activated watch face changes. BlueXLink enables seamless data transfer between multiple devices, and the OS supports features like transportation cards, access cards, and NFC car keys.

BlueOS is set to debut on smartwatches, with the Vivo Watch 3 being the first device to feature the new operating system. The Vivo Watch 3 is scheduled for release in China on November 13. It’s unclear whether this OS will remain exclusive to China or expand to other regions in the future. Stay tuned for updates and further details!
