As the Vision Pro begins to reach buyers, details about Apple’s hefty AR/VR headset are flooding the internet. One inconvenient quirk that has emerged involves the passcode for your Vision Pro. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, forgetting your Vision Pro passcode could pose a significant issue, with no easy way to recover it.
For those unfamiliar, similar to iPhone, iPad, and Mac, the Vision Pro also requires a six-digit or four-digit passcode during the setup process. This serves as the foundation of the security protection, followed by Optic ID. If you enter the wrong passcode too many times, the Vision Pro will be disabled, leading to potential complications.
According to a community post on the Apple Forum, a user who forgot the passcode for their Vision Pro headset faced a challenge, as Apple has not provided any information on how to reset the device after a password lockout.
After contacting customer care at Apple, the user was advised that the only way to reset the Vision Pro after forgetting the passcode is to take it to an Apple Store to have it unlocked or replaced.
It is important to note that other Apple devices, such as the iPhone, Apple Watch, and iPad, offer methods to reset the device if you have forgotten the passcode. Additionally, there are ways to unlock an iPhone without a passcode.
The passcode situation with the Vision Pro is indeed affected by the lack of a USB-C port in the headset. This port would have enabled users to connect the Vision Pro to a Mac for the recovery process.
Since the Vision Pro is a first-generation device, Apple may address these issues through future software updates. However, if you forget your Vision Pro passcode at the moment, you will need to visit an Apple Store and may lose all the content stored in the headset.
