The upcoming Qualcomm chipset reportedly achieves a 3.3 million score on the AnTuTu benchmark.
Qualcomm previewed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor at the Snapdragon Summit earlier this year, alongside the Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite 5. Expected to launch before the end of 2025, a fresh leak now sheds more light on the next-generation flagship chipset for Android smartphones.
Renowned tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo disclosed several insights about the CPU setup and GPU specifications of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. According to the leak, the chipset will utilize TSMC’s 3nm+ fabrication process and come with an 8-core structure, including two prime cores clocked at 3.8 GHz and six performance cores clocked at 3.32 GHz.
When it comes to graphics, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will incorporate the Adreno 840 GPU running at 1.2 GHz. It will share the same IP architecture as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, though with slightly reduced performance capabilities.
Digital Chat Station also revealed early benchmark results, showing that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 hits 3.3 million points on AnTuTu. On Geekbench 6, the chip reportedly scores around 3,000 in single-core and 10,000 in multi-core tests. Additionally, it’s said to deliver 100 FPS in the Aztec 1440p benchmark, suggesting exceptional gaming graphics.
With these specifications, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 could potentially rival the Snapdragon 8 Elite in CPU performance. However, its GPU output may not entirely match the previous year’s flagship. Still, the TSMC 3NP process might offer better thermal efficiency compared to its predecessor.
Beyond these details, it’s already confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will feature a Hexagon NPU, an AI-focused ISP, and a SME (Scalable Matrix Extension) instruction set designed for on-device AI tasks. Qualcomm is anticipated to launch the chipset in late 2025, powering the next lineup of premium “flagship killer” smartphones.
