Samsung Reportedly Ditches Galaxy S26 Edge Amid Disappointing Sales

The Edge lineup is reportedly coming to an end following this new revelation.

In May 2025, Samsung surprised everyone by unveiling the Galaxy S25 Edge. The smartphone embraced the “slim phone” trend, similar to offerings from Apple, Nubia, Tecno, and Motorola. However, a year later, it appears that Samsung isn’t pleased with the Edge’s performance.

Galaxy S26 Edge possibly discontinued

According to an exclusive report by South Korean outlet Newspim, Samsung has discontinued the upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge. This decision is unexpected, especially since leaked dummy units of the S26 Edge had surfaced earlier, showcasing a refreshed design.

Despite that, Samsung has decided to halt production of the device. The reported reason behind this sudden move is the disappointing sales figures of the Galaxy S25 Edge over the last six months. A Samsung executive reportedly confirmed that the S25 Edge did not meet the company’s internal sales expectations.

As a result, Samsung concluded that the Galaxy S26 Edge doesn’t align with consumer demand. Even the existing Galaxy S25 Edge will be phased out once the remaining stock is cleared.

To put things into perspective, South Korean investment firm Hana Investment & Securities reported that Samsung sold only 1,90,000 units of the Galaxy S25 Edge in its first month, reaching just 1.31 million units by August 2025. These numbers are significantly lower compared to other models in the lineup.

Additionally, the Galaxy S25 Edge’s steep pricing didn’t work in its favor. Priced above ₹1 lakh, the ultra-thin device suffered from several drawbacks such as reduced battery life, an underwhelming camera setup, poor thermal control, and more.

Unsurprisingly, consumers found better value in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which offered superior features for only a slightly higher price. Thus, launching a Galaxy S26 Edge with similar shortcomings would likely lead to the same outcome.

This last-minute change has reportedly forced Samsung to reorganize its plans to ensure it still launches three models at the January 2026 Unpacked event. Since it’s too late to develop an entirely new phone, Samsung might release the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Ultra, and possibly either the revived S26 Plus or the compact S26 model.
