The ultra-slim Edge lineup might not be discontinued after all.
With just a few months left before the official Galaxy S26 series debut, Samsung appears to be caught in an internal dilemma. From a revamped lineup to reports of a full product cancellation, leaks and rumors continue to cause confusion. Now, the latest update only adds more uncertainty to the situation.
Galaxy S26 Edge may not be discontinued after all
According to Dutch tech outlet GalaxyClub, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge, previously believed to be scrapped, is reportedly still under development. The publication notes that Samsung has been working on a “More Slim” device for quite some time and currently has no plans to abandon it completely.

For reference, the Galaxy S25 Edge carried the internal codename “Slim.” Connecting the clues, the “More Slim” project could very well refer to the previously shelved Galaxy S26 Edge. Interestingly, this smartphone isn’t expected to be part of the Galaxy S26 lineup launching in February or March 2026.
GalaxyClub further suggests that the new model could make its appearance by mid or late 2026, continuing the Edge series legacy. Putting these pieces together, it’s likely that Samsung’s main lineup will include the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra at launch.

Meanwhile, the ultra-slim model may get a standalone release later in 2026, indicating that the Galaxy S26 Edge hasn’t been permanently cancelled. However, it’s still too early to draw conclusions.
Until Samsung issues an official statement, it’s best to treat this information cautiously. Earlier reports from Newspim suggested that Samsung executives themselves confirmed the S26 Edge’s discontinuation. If there’s been a reversal in that decision, it hasn’t been officially announced yet.

Additionally, Samsung’s tendency to mirror Apple’s strategies could play a role here. Recent reports indicate that Apple might cancel the iPhone Air successor next year. If that happens, Samsung may follow suit by shelving the Galaxy S26 Edge as well. Only time will tell what direction this story takes.
