Samsung’s own mobile SoC product line, known as Exynos, fuels many of its recent phones, like the Galaxy S23 FE with its Exynos 2200 (4nm) processor. Rumors even suggest an Exynos 2400 for the upcoming S24 lineup.
However, a new rumor from the X user (previously Twitter) @OreXda surfaced recently. It hinted at Samsung bidding farewell to the Exynos label. The leakster suggested a potential rebranding of Exynos processors as ‘Dream Chip,’ a development extensively covered by numerous media outlets.
Looks like the rumor has been completely debunked. Android Authority reached out directly to Samsung Semiconductor, and they’ve confirmed that the “rumor on rebranding is not true.” Additionally, Android Authority noted that the tipster @OreXda on X (formerly Twitter) lacks a credible track record for leaks.
Samsung Semiconductor clarified, “For your reference, the mentioned brand name [Dream – ed] is simply an internal project name,” as reported by Android Authority.
In light of the widespread speculation about a potential rebranding of Exynos processors, media outlets sought clarification from Samsung to address the situation. Following the initial inquiry, Android Authority pressed Samsung for a second time to confirm whether any rebranding rumors held validity.
In response, Samsung Semiconductor explicitly stated, “All rumors regarding rebranding are not true.” This unequivocal statement puts an end to all speculations concerning the rebranding of Exynos processors. It’s now confirmed that there are no plans in place for any rebranding. The names ‘Dream‘ or ‘Dream Chip‘ were merely internal project designations used by Samsung during the development phase of Exynos processors. Consequently, the current branding will persist without any alterations.
