This feature is limited to devices that support Essential Space, which includes the Nothing Phone (3a) and later models.
Nothing has enhanced the functionality of the Essential Key on its phones, allowing the physical button to now serve as a call recording tool when needed.
According to a post by the official Essential account on X, the “Call Recording” feature is being rolled out on Essential Space. Users with compatible Nothing phones can activate it by long-pressing the Essential Key during an ongoing call.

According to the official demo, users can also begin recording a call directly from the Notifications tray by selecting the Start Recording option when making a phone call. Once the call is finished, the recording is automatically saved within the Essential Space app.

When users tap on the “Recording saved” notification, they can view a transcription of the call, along with a summary and the main topics discussed. This feature is designed to help users stay focused during conversations, while Essential Space manages the recording and organization automatically.
Since Call Recording is integrated into Essential Space, it is limited to certain Nothing devices, including the Phone (3), Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro. Nothing has confirmed in a separate post that the feature will roll out automatically on these devices, without the need for a manual update.
The company has stated that Call Recording will initially be available in India, the UK, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, and Thailand starting October 7, 2025. The rollout is expected to expand to additional regions in the near future.
This addition is the latest enhancement to Essential Space since its introduction with the Nothing Phone (3a) series. Recently, Essential Space also received clipboard capabilities, enabling users to create Collections from copied content.
