Nothing has had an impressive start to the year, with the Phone (3a) series earning the title of some of the best mid-range phones available. The company’s latest innovation, Essential Space referred to as “your second memory” has sparked some concerns. Users have expressed worries about limits on the Essential Space feature and the potential for the company to turn it into a subscription-based service. However, it seems the brand has now addressed these concerns.

In their Q1 2025 Community Board Observer digest, Nothing acknowledged the complaints regarding Essential Space’s limits. To resolve the issue, the Nothing team has increased the limits, ensuring that users won’t run out of Essential Space actuations.

Similarly, there were concerns about Essential Space possibly moving to a subscription-based model in the future. However, Nothing has clarified that there are no plans to introduce a paid subscription for the current set of features.

Instead, the company has confirmed that future, more advanced features may be introduced under a paid tier to help offset the server costs associated with running Essential Space’s AI. As for those hoping Essential Space might come to older Nothing devices, the firm has clarified that this won’t be possible due to the absence of the Essential Key on those models.

Lastly, the post confirmed that features such as auto categorization and conversation recording will be arriving soon to Essential Space.
