Motorola has been active in 2024 with its notable releases like the Moto Edge 50 Pro, gaining significant attention. Additionally, it presented its wrist-phone concept at MWC 2024 and is gearing up for the launch of new Razr devices. Delving into the audio segment, the company has unveiled its latest offerings, the Moto Buds and Buds+ TWS earphones, in India. Here’s a comprehensive look at these new products.
Moto Buds Specs
The Moto Buds come in three attractive colors in India: Starlight Blue, Glacier Blue, and Coral Peach. However, the Kiwi Green variant is notably absent from the Indian market. The case features a pebble-like design with a prominent Motorola logo on the top, an LED indicator on the front, and a pairing button housed within.
Sporting a sleek matte finish, the case interior features clear indicators for distinguishing between the left and right earbuds, with the “Motorola” branding elegantly inscribed on the inside of the top lid.
The Moto Buds have a design reminiscent of the OnePlus Nord Buds, featuring slightly longer stems and distinct internal speaker grilles. When paired with the case, the combined weight of the Moto Buds totals 36 grams, and the case includes a Type-C port at the back.
While the designs of the Moto Buds and Buds+ cases are quite similar, the Buds+ case has a more square shape, while the Buds case has a smaller rectangular design. However, their specifications set them apart.
The Moto Buds are equipped with a single 12.4mm dynamic driver in each earbud, certified for Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos. Both the Buds and Buds+ models feature triple microphones and Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) technology. These earbuds are compatible with AAC and SBC audio codecs as well.
The earbuds come with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that can reduce noise by up to 50dB, offering Transparency and Adaptive modes for different environments. On a single charge, the earbuds provide up to 9 hours of playback time, which extends to 42 hours with the case, both when ANC is switched off. The case takes about 90 minutes to charge fully, and according to Motorola, a quick 10-minute charge can provide up to two hours of playback time without ANC.
Motorola claims that both the Buds and Buds+ have an IPX4 rating for water resistance, while their cases are rated IP54 for protection against water, dust, and splashes.
Moto Buds+ Specs
The Moto Buds+ come in two color options: Forest Grey and Beach Sand. The design of the Buds+ differs notably from the Buds. The Buds+ feature more curved stems and a piano-black ring that runs between the earlobes and the stems, which is especially noticeable on the Forest Grey variant. Apart from these differences and the Bose branding on the case, the overall design and build characteristics of both TWS earbuds are nearly identical.
The Buds+ stand out with their tuning by Bose, a prominent name in the audio industry. They share the Hi-Res and Dolby Atmos certifications with the Buds but are also compatible with Dolby Head Tracking. Additionally, the Buds+ support LDAC, AAC, and SBC audio codecs.
In contrast to the Buds, which feature a single driver, the Buds+ come with dual dynamic drivers of 11mm + 6mm. They also boast Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and Motorola states they can provide up to 38 hours of battery life with the case and 8 hours with ANC turned off.
Charging times are faster on the Buds+, with just 10 minutes providing three hours of playback, and wired charging taking 60 minutes. Additionally, the Buds+ support wireless charging, which Motorola claims requires 110 minutes for a full charge.
While Motorola hasn’t specified exact battery specifications for either, the Buds+ tend to last nearly 10% less than the Buds, despite their larger size suggesting a bigger battery capacity. Interestingly, the ANC on the Buds+ is slightly weaker than on the Buds (46dB vs. 50dB).
Pricing of Moto Buds and Buds+
The Moto Buds are priced at Rs. 4,999, while the Moto Buds+ are priced at Rs. 9,999. However, as part of a special launch offer, Motorola is offering the Buds for Rs. 3,999 and the Buds+ for Rs. 7,999. Both products will be available for purchase on Flipkart and Motorola.in starting from May 15.
