IPhone Fold Expected To Feature A Titanium And Aluminium Hybrid Build

Apple’s inaugural foldable iPhone might be among the two 2026 models incorporating titanium in its construction.

Although the iPhone 17 series launched just a month ago and is still making waves, Apple has already started preparations for its next lineup. According to recent rumours, the tech giant is set to introduce its first foldable iPhone in 2026, with fresh details emerging about its design.

In a recent note to investors, analyst Jeff Pu suggested that the upcoming iPhone Fold might feature a frame constructed from a mix of titanium and aluminum. Pu also highlighted that titanium, which appeared in this year’s iPhone Air, is expected to be incorporated in both the foldable iPhone and the next iPhone Air.

However, it remains unclear how Apple intends to utilize these two metals in the foldable model. It’s uncertain whether the company will blend titanium and aluminum into a single alloy or apply them separately—for instance, using one material for the hinge and the other for the frame.

It wouldn’t be unexpected for Apple to choose the first option, as some titanium alloys incorporate aluminium as a secondary component. Opting for the second approach could also reduce the weight of the iPhone Fold, which will be crucial if Apple aims to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 or other upcoming foldable devices.

This information comes after a report earlier this year from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who had also indicated that the iPhone Fold’s frame might use multiple materials. At that time, however, Kuo suggested that these materials would likely be titanium and stainless steel.

Apple’s first foldable smartphone is reportedly set for a 2026 launch. It’s already known that Samsung will supply the OLED displays for the iPhone Fold, and production has reportedly begun. This device is also expected to reintroduce Touch ID, serving as the foldable iPhone’s fingerprint sensor.

With roughly a year remaining before its official debut, more details about the iPhone Fold are likely to emerge in the coming months. Stay tuned to Beebom Gadgets for the latest updates on Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
