Instagram’s ‘Notes’ Feature Integrates Short Videos: Here’s How It Works!

Instagram recently introduced the Notes feature as a means to share vanishing text-based statuses with your followers. Now, this feature has received an update enabling the sharing of short videos as Notes.

The Video Notes function permits the upload of a 2-second video, following the disappearing pattern of text-based status updates and Stories. This enhancement follows the inclusion of audio statuses in Instagram Notes, enabling the sharing of favorite songs with followers.

This new update is gradually rolling out and is expected to be available to all users soon. Sharing Video Notes is a straightforward process, and here’s how you can do it.

Sharing Video Notes on Instagram

  • Go to the Instagram Direct Message (DM) section and tap your Profile Picture.
  • Look for the camera icon located at the top of your Profile Picture; this icon enables you to record a 2-second video to share.

You have the option to include supporting text along with the Video Note to provide context. Presently, only your Close Friends and mutual followers have access to view your Video Notes. However, there’s a possibility that this feature could expand to include all followers or even non-followers in the future.

AzMo Tech’s Take

The introduction of Video Notes does bring an element of excitement, but its purpose might raise questions. It appears to deviate from the original text-based concept of Notes, akin to posting on X (formerly known as Twitter). Instagram already offers the feature of short videos and photos through Stories, possibly leading to some confusion with the addition of Video Notes.

In my view, this feature might initially attract users for experimentation, yet its novelty might wear off over time, mirroring the trajectory of the Notes feature. What are your thoughts on this? Do you believe it’s a valuable addition, or do you feel it’s unnecessary? Share your perspective in the comments section below!

Additionally, Instagram’s new feature allowing multimedia replies to Notes, including GIFs, audio, photos, videos, and stickers, resembles the ability to respond to post comments with photos or GIFs.
