AI integration in Google Search has accelerated rapidly, especially following last year’s launch of AI Overviews. Now, Google is taking things a step further with the introduction of AI Mode for Google search, which is now live for all U.S. users no opt-in required.
AI Mode blends the multimodal intelligence of Gemini 2.5 with Google Search to deliver smarter, more contextual results. For example, if you search for something like “places to eat sushi that are not overcrowded, affordable, and on my way home from work,” AI Mode uses a technique called “query fan-out” to break down and understand your request, returning curated and highly relevant results tailored to your needs.
Deep Search mode is built to process hundreds of queries simultaneously, surfacing results you might never find through traditional search. It also integrates Gemini Live capabilities just tap the Search Live option to visually show Google what you need help with and receive answers in real time. Alongside that, it will provide helpful links to relevant websites, videos, forums, and other sources for deeper exploration.
AI Mode will also include agentic features powered by Project Mariner. For example, if you search “Two movie tickets for Minecraft in a theatre near me this evening,” Google will do the heavy lifting scanning websites for the best price and even filling in your details. All you need to do is complete the payment at checkout, and you’re good to go.
Google is teaming up with Ticketmaster, StubHub, Resy, and Vagaro to make this agentic feature even smoother. Beyond booking tickets, it will act as your personal shopping assistant recommending the right products and automatically purchasing them with Google Pay when prices hit your alert, saving you from the hassle of constantly monitoring price drops.
Finally, AI Mode will provide a more personalized search experience based on your past queries. You can choose to link other Google services for even deeper, tailored results but Google assures you can opt out anytime if you prefer not to use this feature.
In addition to these updates, AI Mode can display custom graphs and visuals tailored to your searches. If you’re in the US, you should start seeing AI Mode in Google Search from today. Plus, some extra features showcased at I/O are available when you opt into AI Mode through Google Labs.
