Google Officially Announces Launch Date for Pixel Watch 2 in India

Google is gearing up to unveil its latest Pixel 8 series of smartphones, and alongside them, the eagerly awaited Pixel Watch 2. The great news for Indian consumers is that both the new Pixel phones and the Pixel Watch 2 are set to make their way to India. Google has also officially announced the launch date for these exciting releases. Here’s what you need to know.

Pixel Watch 2 Confirmed for Launch in India

Google has officially announced that the highly anticipated Pixel Watch 2 will be launching in India on October 5. This news is particularly exciting as the first-generation Pixel smartwatch didn’t make its way to the Indian market when it was initially introduced last year. On the same day, we also anticipate the arrival of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, which were recently showcased by Google, confirming earlier rumors.

The Pixel Watch 2 will be available for purchase via Flipkart, according to the official announcement. In terms of design, the new smartwatch closely resembles its predecessor, featuring a round display with a subtle curve and a bezel-free appearance. It will come equipped with a rotational crown and an additional physical button for user convenience.

The teaser video released by Google also reveals that the watch will boast an IP68 rating, ensuring resistance to dust and water. Additionally, users can expect standard features like a heart rate sensor and an SpO2 sensor, as well as a range of functionalities including sleep tracking, period tracking, stress management, fall detection, and more, mirroring the capabilities of the previous Pixel Watch model.

Rumors suggest that the Pixel Watch 2 will come equipped with an upgraded Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, a significant improvement over the aging Exynos 9110 chipset found in the first-generation Google watch. The previous watch’s lackluster battery life was attributed to this outdated chipset, and the new chipset is expected to address this issue. Furthermore, there’s speculation about a larger battery capacity, which would further enhance battery life.

The smartwatch is also anticipated to run on Wear OS 4 based on Android 13 and offer features such as ultra-wideband (UWB) support for device tracking, integration with Fitbit, and more.

While pricing details haven’t been officially disclosed, it’s speculated that the Pixel Watch 2 may be priced around the range of the Pixel Watch, which starts at $349.9 (approximately Rs 29,000). This would position it as a sub-Rs 30,000 smartwatch, making it competitive with offerings like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series and the Apple Watch SE 2, among others.

Stay tuned for more concrete information, as we’ll continue to provide updates on the Pixel Watch 2’s India launch. Are you looking forward to the arrival of the Pixel Watch 2 in India? Feel free to express your opinions in the comments area down below.
