Google Maps is the preferred navigation app for many in the subcontinent. Over the years, it has gained numerous features and enhancements, including a recent UI overhaul. Now, it seems Google is gearing up to introduce India-specific features in the next update, including a feature to help you never miss a flyover.
We’ve all faced confusion about whether to take a flyover or continue straight, often resulting in taking the wrong path, wasting fuel and time, and sometimes causing traffic buildup.
This problem should soon be resolved with Google Maps’ upcoming feature, which will provide a direction prompt if you need to take the flyover during navigation.
The latest Google Maps update also introduces a feature that indicates if the road ahead is narrow, helping you avoid routes that might be too tight for your vehicle. Additionally, another feature may rival the PlugShare app we discussed in our article on the best Android Auto apps.
The update also includes real-time information on EV charging station locations, with the number of available ports updated dynamically, according to the screenshots. Additionally, you can now book a metro ticket directly through ONDC via the Google Maps app, which is a fantastic new feature.
What do you think of these new updates for Google Maps in India? Are there any features you’d like to see added to the app? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
