As we reach the midpoint of 2024, the rumor mill is buzzing about the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. Historically, Samsung has used its in-house Exynos chipsets in various regions. However, recent rumors suggest that Samsung might abandon Exynos altogether for their next flagship lineup and opt exclusively for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in the Galaxy S25 series.
This speculation comes from renowned tipster Ming-Chi Kuo, who shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) indicating that Qualcomm could be the sole SoC supplier for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series.
The reason behind this potential shift is that the upcoming Exynos 2500 chipset might not meet the expected performance levels. Built on Samsung’s second-generation 3nm process, the Exynos 2500 was supposed to compete directly with Qualcomm’s next flagship processor, but it appears this won’t be the case.
On the other hand, the next Snapdragon 8 series processor is anticipated to be significantly more expensive, with a price increase of 20-25%. If these rumors prove true, we can expect a substantial price hike for all Galaxy S25 series devices next year.
While many of us may not be fans of Exynos chipsets, it’s undeniable that they have seen significant improvements over the years. Personally, I’m excited about the prospect of an all-Snapdragon Galaxy S25 smartphone, but the potential price increase is a concern. What do you think?
