Do you recall the excruciating yet exhilarating times we had with Flappy Bird? I certainly do. Flappy Bird, the mobile game that had us all hooked, was taken offline by its creator Dong Nguyen just a year after its launch. Despite his claim that the game was “gone forever,” it’s now making a comeback, thanks to a new team.
Flappy Bird is set to return in 2025 for Android, iOS, and other unannounced platforms. The revival is being led by The Flappy Bird Foundation Group, a passionate team of dedicated fans.
The Foundation acquired the game’s rights from Gametech, LLC, which had previously claimed them from Nguyen. The indie developer, having abandoned the game, did not contest the rights.
Though details are still scarce, a one-minute trailer has been released that recaps the entire Flappy Bird saga. The trailer offers a glimpse of the revamped game and highlights some of the new features.
The updated Flappy Bird promises to be more expansive than ever, introducing new characters, game modes, and a vibrant new color palette. One thrilling new feature is the ‘Rivals’ mode, where players can face off against 99 opponents in a single match.
Flappy Bird Release Date and Platforms
Flappy Bird is scheduled to officially relaunch for Android, iOS, and additional platforms yet to be announced in October 2025. The creators have also promised a browser version that will offer the same gameplay.
Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding the transfer of rights from one developer to another, the excitement for Flappy Bird’s return is palpable. I don’t know about you, but my work productivity is about to take a dip!
