Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree to Launching in June

After a year of silence following the initial announcement in June, fans of the critically acclaimed FromSoftware RPG were left in the dark regarding its first DLC. However, recent updates to the Steam database by the publisher hinted at developments, and now the wait is over. Bandai Namco has officially unveiled Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree to the world.

In their official announcement, Bandai Namco released a trailer offering fans their first look at the upcoming DLC. The trailer provides over three minutes of content, delivered in easily digestible portions.

The trailer reveals several new locations that players can explore in the DLC. According to the official website, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will introduce the Land of Shadows, a previously uncharted region in the game world. This region marks the first footsteps of the goddess Marika. Among the new locations showcased are a swamp area surrounded by ancient trees, a rundown house at its center, a volcanic region, and a circular staircase adorned with hanging pots.

Additionally, the trailer hints at the introduction of new NPCs. These include a character clad in armor reminiscent of a Roman Legate, another NPC in heavy armor seated next to a pot, and a third figure seated prominently on a throne. Furthermore, the trailer confirms the addition of new weapon arts and sorceries for players, with one scene hinting at something resembling the wings of the Crucible Knights.

As is typical for FromSoftware DLCs in Elden Ring, players can expect new bosses and enemies to challenge them. Among these are a new field boss and a humanoid enemy who carries a lion’s head, engaging players in frantic combat.

However, the trailer’s standout moment is the introduction of Messmer the Impaler, a new boss who promises to be a formidable foe. Additionally, we catch a glimpse of Miquella, the sibling of the formidable and dangerous boss Malenia.

Release Date and Pre-Order Details

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is scheduled to release on June 21, 2024, and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Following the stream’s conclusion, FromSoftware immediately opened pre-orders for the DLC on all platforms. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is priced at $39.99 across all platforms. Pre-ordering the DLC grants players the Ring of Miquella gesture as a bonus.

Additionally, a new collector’s edition will be available, featuring a 46 CM statue of Messmer the Impaler, a 40-page hardcover artbook, a DLC voucher code, and a soundtrack, all for $270.00/249.99€.
