Just when the landscape of TVs seemed to have reached its limit with innovations like rollable OLEDs, LG has introduced another game-changer. At CES 2024, LG unveiled the new LG Signature OLED T, a transparent TV featuring an OLED panel. This television boasts a distinctive screen that allows viewers to see through to the other side.
While the transparent TV technology showcased at CES 2024 has been previously utilized as a commercial solution, LG is now aiming to make the LG Signature OLED T available to the general consumer market, potentially launching later in 2024. As reported by the Korean news outlet Yonhap News Agency, LG has stated that the Signature OLED Transparent TV is set to debut in the global market “later this year.”
The TV is equipped with LG’s latest Alpha 11 AI processor, boasting a significant fourfold improvement in performance compared to its predecessor. This advanced processor is designed to enhance image quality by working at a pixel-perfect level, facilitating superior color correction and detailing when analyzing content.
Users have the flexibility to seamlessly switch between transparent and black TV modes. The standard ‘black‘ mode is noted for its superior image quality. Additionally, the TV incorporates exclusive features that leverage the unique capabilities of the transparent mode, further enhancing the viewing experience.
The TV introduces a novel T-bar feature, presenting useful information at the bottom of the LG Signature T Transparent OLED television. Users can conveniently access details such as the time, weather, and news. With the transparent mode activated, the TV even supports the display of art pieces.
The LG Signature T Transpalook serves as a stylish addition to home decor, offering a cool and innovative touch. LG attributes the slim design to the TV’s self-lit pixel technology.
The LG Signature OLED T utilizes LG’s Zero Connect Box, facilitating the wireless transmission of video and audio to the TV. The novelty of this transparent OLED TV is genuinely impressive, and it’s not just an illusion. Attendees at the CES 2024 event have confirmed that the transparency remains even when viewing the TV from behind. While the pricing remains uncertain until the launch, there are concerns it might be on the higher end.
