Earlier this month, during the official Xbox podcast, CEO Phil Spencer hinted at the future of Xbox, teasing four beloved exclusives without revealing their names, leaving gamers curious. Now, Xbox has officially confirmed that these previously exclusive Microsoft games will soon be available on Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation.
As stated on the Xbox Wire website, the four games making their way to other platforms from Xbox include Grounded, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, and Sea of Thieves. Today, during Nintendo’s Partner Direct event, Pentiment and Grounded were announced for Nintendo Switch. Pentiment is set to release on February 22 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
Grounded, scheduled for release on April 16, will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, supporting cross-platform play across Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Among these titles, Hi-Fi Rush stands out as a popular and critically acclaimed game. Hi-Fi Rush is set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on March 19, with pre-orders becoming available on PlayStation 5 digital storefronts beginning February 22.
We’ve also received confirmation about Sea of Thieves. Given its demanding nature, it wasn’t surprising that the game wouldn’t be joining the Nintendo ecosystem. However, Sea of Thieves is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 on April 30. Similar to Grounded, Sea of Thieves will also support cross-platform play, allowing gamers to enjoy the experience across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
These four Xbox exclusives mark the first time that games from Microsoft Studios will be available on other platforms. Previously, Microsoft-owned games that were not exclusive to Xbox, such as Minecraft, Overwatch, and Call of Duty, were available on multiple platforms.
