Apple might finally be turning things around for the Vision Pro headset, which launched without several key features. At WWDC, the company unveiled visionOS 26 a major update that delivers some long-overdue improvements for the $3,000 device.

visionOS 26 brings a fresh addition: spatial widgets. Just like decorating a room, you can now place widgets around your space in augmented reality. You’re free to adjust their size, color, depth, and borders before mounting them on walls or placing them on surfaces. Once set, they’ll stay right where you put them no need to reposition every time.

One of the biggest complaints about the Vision Pro was its lack of shared experiences something Apple is finally tackling with visionOS 26. The new update introduces shared spatial experiences, letting two Vision Pro users in the same room watch a movie or collaborate on a 3D model together. It even works over FaceTime, so whether your friend is nearby or miles away, you can still enjoy the moment together.

With visionOS 26, Personas are getting a major upgrade. Apple’s using advanced volumetric rendering and machine learning to create more lifelike digital versions of your face. The result? Better detail, sharper expressions, and highly accurate features including your hair, lashes, and skin tone.

Apple is enhancing the Vision Pro with a range of spatial features to make the experience feel more immersive. For instance, spatial scenes now appear more lifelike with added depth to images. Safari also gets an upgrade with spatial browsing, allowing you to minimize distractions in supported articles. On top of that, you’ll be able to enjoy wide-view content like 180-degree and 360-degree videos from brands such as Insta360, GoPro, and Canon.

visionOS 26 also adds support for the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, making it easier to enjoy compatible games. But perhaps the most notable upgrade is the new guest mode. You can now add guest users and save their profiles, so sharing your Vision Pro doesn’t mean redoing the setup every time.

In addition, visionOS 26 introduces support for features like Image Playground, Look to Scroll, expanded language options, the ability to unlock your iPhone, and even take calls while using the headset. The update is expected to roll out later this fall, so Vision Pro users should stay tuned.
