Apple has officially launched its latest 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the brand-new M5 chip. The processor promises up to 3.5 times faster AI performance and 1.6 times improved graphics speed compared to the previous M4 model. The new MacBook Pro M5 is available in Space Black and Silver, with pre-orders now open starting at $1,599.
The base variant of the M5 MacBook Pro includes a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine, 16GB of unified memory, and 512GB SSD storage. The M5 chip introduces a next-gen GPU architecture featuring a Neural Accelerator (similar to Tensor cores) within each GPU core, allowing for significantly faster AI computations. It also supports up to 150GB/s memory bandwidth.

When compared to its M4 predecessor, the M5 model performs 1.8x faster in Topaz Video, 1.7x faster in 3D rendering via Blender, and offers 1.6x higher frame rates in gaming as well as 1.2x quicker code compilation.
The M5 CPU provides a 20% boost in multi-threaded performance over the M4 and, according to Apple, includes the “world’s fastest CPU core.” In terms of endurance, the laptop delivers up to 24 hours of battery life and reaches 50% charge within 30 minutes using a 96W+ USB-C adapter.
Other key features include a 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, 12MP Center Stage camera, studio-grade microphones, and a six-speaker audio setup with Spatial Audio. Port options comprise HDMI, SDXC, MagSafe 3, and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity.
