The upcoming iOS 18 is anticipated to be the most significant update in iPhone history, emphasizing AI integration and extensive customization options. iOS 18 is expected to introduce a more flexible Home Screen experience, allowing users to move away from the traditional grid layout that has been in place since 2007. Users will also have the option to change the color of app icons.
Mark Gurman has recently hinted at changes coming to the Settings app in iOS 18 and the System Settings app in macOS 15. While these updates are not directly related to AI, it’s likely that AI will be utilized to enhance the intelligent display, search, and configuration of settings.
According to Gurman, iOS 18 will feature a redesigned Settings app with a more organized and user-friendly layout, addressing long-standing criticisms of its complexity. This updated design will also extend to the System Settings app on Macs.
Alongside the redesigned Settings app, iOS 18 and macOS 15 are anticipated to deliver substantial upgrades to the Control Center. Many users have been eagerly anticipating a refresh of the “dated” Control Center, and it appears Apple is finally responding to this demand with a modernized look and redesigned icons.
Although it may not be a major overhaul, the update is certainly a much-needed improvement. If these changes prove to be accurate, iPhone users will likely welcome the refreshed design. Of course, it also means we’ll need to familiarize ourselves with a few new settings shortcuts in iOS 18. It could be an interesting and enjoyable challenge—what do you think?
