Apple Plans To Equip All iPads And MacBooks With OLED Displays

Apple is reportedly preparing to enhance its entire iPad and MacBook lineup — including the iPad Mini, iPad Air, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air — with high-end OLED screens similar to those in the iPad Pro. This strategic move aims to boost sales by offering users richer visuals and a premium viewing experience.

Rumors about a touchscreen MacBook Pro featuring an OLED display have circulated for a while, but Apple appears to have even bigger ambitions. As noted by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant intends to adopt OLED panels across its devices due to their ability to produce deeper blacks and more vibrant colors compared to traditional LCD screens.

When Will OLED Displays Arrive on All iPads and MacBooks?

The transition to OLED displays will begin with the iPad Mini, which is expected to be the first model to receive the upgrade. Reports indicate it might also feature a water-resistant design, similar to the iPhone, and could debut as early as next year. However, this enhancement might come at a higher cost, with Apple possibly adding around $100 to the iPad Mini’s price tag.

Following that, the MacBook Pro is expected to adopt OLED technology by late 2026 or early 2027. This model will reportedly be Apple’s first MacBook with a touchscreen OLED display and will be powered by the upcoming M6 processor.

As for the iPad Air, it’s unlikely to receive an OLED display before 2027, while the MacBook Air might be the final device in the lineup to make the switch — potentially around 2028. A refreshed version of the MacBook Air is expected in 2026, but it will continue to use LCD panels for the time being.
