During the WWDC 2024 event, Apple unveiled that ChatGPT integration is on its way to iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices running iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. This integration is separate from Apple Intelligence, which brings a host of AI features and experiences processed on-device and through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. Apple devices will consistently request your permission before forwarding your queries to ChatGPT.
You can access ChatGPT for free through Siri and apps like Mail, Notes, and more. With Siri, you can ask for information on any subject or use ChatGPT to rewrite texts in Mail or the Notes app. Additionally, you can generate images in supported apps. With a ChatGPT Plus subscription, you can access the premium features on any Apple device.
Apple has stated that queries made through ChatGPT will not be logged by its maker, OpenAI. There were longstanding rumors about Apple’s discussions with OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, but it is now confirmed that OpenAI has secured the deal to tightly integrate ChatGPT into Apple products. Additionally, Apple has announced that support for more AI models will be available soon.
