Rockstar Games, under mounting pressure from gamers, remains tight-lipped about GTA 6, withholding any information about the highly anticipated game. However, a recent report from Game Rant may shed some light on the matter.
According to the report, Gregory Joseph Connors is speculated to be voicing the character Jason in GTA 6. Game Rant conducted its own investigation, uncovering details about Connors’ involvement in the project.
A review of the actor’s resume revealed that Connors, a stage and screen actor based in New York, lists a lead role in a Rockstar Games project on his profile. Additionally, his resume indicates that the game he’s involved in is slated for release in 2025, a timeframe that intriguingly aligns with the rumored release window for GTA 6.
Further fueling speculation, Connors’ IMDb acting credits show a conspicuous gap throughout the entirety of 2023. This observation suggests that game studios typically bring in voice actors during the final stages of a game’s development.
Nevertheless, upon scrutinizing the appearance of Jason in the GTA 6 trailer, Connors doesn’t seem to match the anticipated protagonist’s facial features. This discrepancy sparks doubts about his role, hinting at a potential twist in the narrative. Connors may be cast in the role of the antagonist, given that his resume only mentions portraying a lead character.
Although Rockstar Games has refrained from addressing any speculations surrounding GTA 6, it’s worth noting that to be cast as a lead in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, the actor would likely have significant screen time and importance within the game’s storyline.
This wouldn’t mark the inaugural instance of mainstream actors taking on pivotal roles in video games. Previously, Samuel L. Jackson’s portrayal of Officer Tenpenny in GTA: San Andreas exemplified this trend. As a seasoned 37-year-old veteran in the acting realm, Connors’ potential involvement in GTA 6 adds an intriguing layer, leaving audiences eager to discern whether he assumes the mantle of protagonist or antagonist.
Potential False Alarm
While actors typically don’t fabricate roles on their resumes, Rockstar Games upholds strict non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). It’s plausible that the resume update was an inadvertent oversight by the actor. Doubts are further compounded when we consider the visual resemblances, as evidenced in GTA 5, where characters like Michael bear striking similarities to their voice actors, such as Ned Luke.
While it’s premature to draw conclusions, especially given the limited exposure to Jason thus far, it’s already confirmed that Troy Baker is not portraying him in GTA 6. Moreover, there are speculations suggesting Manni L. Perez as the voice behind Lucia, the female protagonist in the game.
