At this point, I wouldn’t blame you if you’re on the verge of losing patience waiting for the official release of GTA 6. The entire gaming community shares this anticipation, and many have sought alternative ways to ease the wait. But no one expected a modder to take matters into their own hands by bringing elements of the GTA 6 map to GTA 5—well, partially.
As reported by VG247, a dedicated modder has painstakingly recreated key locations from the GTA 6 map within Grand Theft Auto 5. Naturally, this includes only areas that have been revealed in the official GTA 6 trailer. The recreated locations capture the essence of Vice City, featuring sandy beaches, stunning beachfront properties, and more.
Titled ‘Project Vice’ by YouTuber Dark Space, this mod aims to satisfy players eagerly awaiting Grand Theft Auto 6. However, it’s important to note that the recreated GTA 6 map is not an exact replica but rather an interpretation based on available footage. As a result, the map remains relatively simple. While many areas have been repurposed from GTA 5, they still feature a decent level of detail, including Miami-inspired art installations and billboards.
However, the map lacks full-scale traffic and pedestrians, and the modder has used a flat landmass as the foundation. In the showcase video, they walk and fly around to highlight different areas. While the map may appear basic, it still offers an exciting glimpse for players eager to see what the GTA 6 world might look like.
Interestingly, this isn’t the modder’s first attempt at bringing GTA 6 to life. They have been working on this project for quite some time, with initial progress shared back in January. Since then, they have continued refining and expanding their recreation.
While this GTA 6 mod may seem like just a showcase, players can actually try it out for themselves! If you’re interested, simply head over to Dark Space’s Discord server and sign up. While it won’t offer the full GTA 6 experience, it’s a fun way to explore parts of the map before the next trailer potentially drops… soon?
