Top 10 Must-Have Talismans in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Every Elden Ring player knows that the game is packed with powerful Talismans, and the new Shadow of the Erdtree DLC continues this trend. Some Talismans enhance your critical hit potential, while others refine existing abilities to perfection. If you’re just diving into the game, stick around as we explore the must-have Talismans from the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC that you should add to your collection right away

1. Talisman of All Crucibles

Location: Deep within the Ruah Ancient Ruins West

The Talisman of All Crucibles is a powerful fusion of every Crucible Talisman in Elden Ring. This Talisman reduces critical hit damage taken, decreases headshot damage from enemies, and enhances your rolling and backstepping abilities. However, these benefits come with a downside—taking increased damage from enemies. This Talisman is especially useful if you’re facing a boss that deals significant critical damage and need improved dodging capabilities.

To obtain this Talisman, head to the Ruah Ancient Ruins. Start at the Ruah Ancient Ruins West, navigate through the ruins, and complete a jumping puzzle to reach the area where the Talisman is located. For a detailed walkthrough, check out the guide I’ve written here!

2. Aged One’s Exultation

Location: Abyssal Woods

Aged One’s Exultation is a rare and easily missed Talisman in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, but it’s a game-changer for players using a Frenzy/Madness build. This Talisman increases your damage output based on your accumulated Madness. For instance, if your Madness bar is halfway full, you’ll deal significantly more damage. If you’re running a Madness/Frenzy build, this Talisman is a must-have.

To obtain this Talisman, you need to defeat the Aged Ones in Abyssal Woods. Despite what the game suggests, these enemies can be defeated by parrying their attacks.

3. Two-Headed Turtle Talisman

Location: Behind a waterfall at the Ellac River

One of the top Talismans in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is the Two-Headed Turtle Talisman, which greatly improves stamina recovery. This is crucial in Elden Ring, especially given how demanding the boss fights can be. With better stamina recovery, you’ll be able to dodge and roll more effectively, making this Talisman a valuable asset.

To acquire this Talisman, venture to the Ellac River. Start at the Ellac River Cave Site of Grace, exit the grave, and ride until you reach a waterfall guarded by a giant crab. Ignore the crab, head into the waterfall, and you’ll find the Talisman protected by long spirit totems.

4. Crimson Seed Talisman + 1

Location: Found in the center of the Finger Ruins of Rhia, beneath the hanging bell.

The Crimson Seed Talisman is a personal favorite for early to mid-game in the base game. In the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, players can now obtain its +3 variant, which significantly enhances its effects.

This upgraded talisman boosts the healing you receive from using the Cerulean Tear Flask, providing even more recovery than the previous +2 version. This makes it invaluable during boss fights, as it allows you to use fewer flasks to recover from damage, making it one of the most effective talismans in the DLC.To obtain this talisman, players must progress through the Manus Metyr questline. At the Ruins of Rhia, you’ll encounter several bells that need to be rung. After ringing the first hanging bell, the Crimson Seed Talisman +3 will be awarded to you.—This version should help ensure the content is unique.

5. Blade of Mercy

Location: Atop the Scorched Ruins

If you’re running a bleed build and want to maximize your critical hit potential, the Blade of Mercy Talisman is perfect for you. It boosts your critical damage with each hit, making it incredibly effective after breaking an enemy’s poise or landing a critical strike.

To find this Talisman, head to the Scorched Ruins of the Shadow Realm. Use your horse to reach the top of a tower within the ruins, where you’ll find the Talisman inside a chest. Equip it, and you’re ready to take on tougher foes. Need more help? Check out the detailed guide on obtaining the Blade of Mercy here!

6. Crimson Amber Medallion +3

Defeat the Death Knight in the Fog Ruins Catacombs.

The Crimson Amber Medallion, a favorite from the original Elden Ring, has received a well-deserved upgrade in Shadow of the Erdtree. The +3 variant significantly increases your health, surpassing the benefits of the +1 and +2 versions. With this Talisman, you’ll have more health to endure the challenges of the Shadow Realm and its formidable bosses.

To get this Talisman, head to the Fog Ruins Catacombs. After crossing the bridge near the Three-Cross Site of Grace, take a left from the Castle Front Site of Grace. Follow the road into a jungle filled with poison-dealing enemies, and you’ll find the Catacombs at the end of the valley.

7. Immunizing Horn Charm +2

Location: Defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit at Belurat Tower Settlement, inside Well Depths

Rot and poison can be incredibly frustrating in Elden Ring, and if you’re progressing through tough battles like Mohg or Starscourge Radahn, you might not have faced the full wrath of Scarlet Rot and Poison. The Immunizing Horn Charm +2 is the perfect antidote when you do. This charm offers enhanced resistance to Poison and Scarlet Rot, significantly improving your chances in battle.

To acquire this Talisman, head to the outskirts of Belurat Tower Settlement. After obtaining the Well-Depths Key, descend into the Well-Depths and defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit to claim the item. Be prepared—this area is a Poison Swamp, so bring plenty of cures or use an incantation to protect yourself.

8. Beloved Stardust

Location: Rewarded by Count Ymir at Manus Metyr Cathedral

Magic users will appreciate the Beloved Stardust Talisman, one of the newest and most powerful additions in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This Talisman allows you to cast spells much faster than usual, but it comes with the drawback of taking increased damage. If you’ve been using Radagon’s Icon Talisman in your intelligence build, consider swapping it out for Beloved Stardust.

To get this Talisman, make your way to Manus Metyr Cathedral and complete tasks assigned by Count Ymir. Upon completion, you’ll be rewarded with this valuable item.

9. Verdigris Discus

Location: In front of a statue northeast of Ancient Ruah Ruins

The Verdigris Discus is a newly introduced Talisman that could become a favorite depending on your playstyle. This Talisman enhances your defense against incoming attacks based on your equipment load. If you’re running a medium or heavy build, this Talisman will offer significant protection. However, if you favor a lighter build, the benefits are less pronounced. Despite this, it’s still considered one of the best Talismans in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

To find this Talisman, head to the Ancient Ruah Ruins. Access the location through a waygate in the middle of a lake in Scadu Altus, using an Imbued Stonesword key to unlock the path. From there, travel northeast to the foot of the Ruah Ruins, where you’ll find a statue of a female. The Talisman is located here.

10. Crusade Insignia

Location: Dropped by Fire Knight Queelign at Belurat Tower Legacy Dungeon

The Crusade Insignia is a straightforward but highly effective Talisman. It boosts your attack damage immediately after defeating an enemy, making it ideal when you’re surrounded by ruthless foes. Equipping this Talisman allows you to dish out more damage as you eliminate enemies, making it a great addition to your arsenal.

To obtain this Talisman, start at the Private Altar Site of Grace. Exit the broken building and continue until you reach a large area with a tree in the center. Defeat the invading Fire Knight Queelign, and you’ll be rewarded with the Crusade Insignia.
