Nothing has introduced a new budget phone under its CMF sub-brand: the CMF Phone 1. Powered by the latest Dimensity 7300 chipset, this device seems to be a successor to the Dimensity 7200 Pro on paper. However, the real-world performance may differ. To evaluate its performance, we’ve conducted a thorough analysis of the Dimensity 7300’s benchmark results, including tests with Geekbench, AnTuTu, 3DMark, and more.
Dimensity 7300 Specifications
Before diving into the benchmarks, let’s take a look at the specifications of MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 chipset.
Dimensity 7300: Geekbench 6 CPU
The CMF Phone 1 is powered by the Dimensity 7300 chipset, featuring eight CPU cores: 4x Cortex-A78 cores clocked up to 2.5GHz and 4x Cortex-A55 cores clocked up to 2.0GHz.
Although MediaTek has used older ARM cores, the performance of this mid-range chipset is surprisingly strong.
In Geekbench, the Dimensity 7300 records scores of 1,018 in the single-core test and 2,920 in the multi-core test. The multi-core score is about 20% higher than that of the Dimensity 7200 Pro found in the Nothing Phone 2a, while the single-core score is around 10% lower. The inclusion of 4x Cortex-A78 cores has led to improved performance in multi-threaded tasks.
Additionally, the Dimensity 7300 SoC is built on TSMC’s 4nm process node, which likely enhances its efficiency. Overall, for a phone priced under Rs 20,000, the Dimensity 7300 offers commendable CPU performance.
Dimensity 7300: AnTuTu Benchmark
In the AnTuTu benchmark, the Dimensity 7300 records an overall score of 637,177 points. The CPU scores 183,575 points, while the GPU scores 145,772 points. The performance here is somewhat disappointing, possibly due to the GPU’s limitations. Additionally, the UFS 3.1 storage earns a score of 78,386 in the AnTuTu storage test.
Dimensity 7300: CPU Throttling Test
In the CPU Throttling test, which measures sustained CPU performance, the Dimensity 7300 performs exceptionally well. It maintains 94% of its maximum performance with minimal throttling during a 15-minute intensive test. This impressive result suggests that Nothing has likely incorporated an effective cooling solution in the CMF Phone 1, allowing for consistent CPU performance over extended periods.
Dimensity 7300: 3DMark Wild Life Stress Test
In the 3DMark Wild Life Stress test, which assesses GPU performance, the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU on the Dimensity 7300 shows good stability. It achieves a best loop score of 3,137 and a lowest loop score of 3,109. While the results are solid on their own, they represent a downgrade compared to the Dimensity 7200 Pro.
The GPU in the Dimensity 7200 Pro scored over 4,000 points in the same test with similar stability, highlighting that MediaTek has opted for a less powerful GPU in the Dimensity 7300 chipset.
Dimensity 7300: AITuTu Benchmark
In the AITuTu benchmark, MediaTek’s AI Processing Unit (APU) on the Dimensity 7300 scores 99,445 points, nearing the 100k mark. MediaTek asserts that the 6th-gen APU 655 in the Dimensity 7300 is nearly twice as fast as the one in the Dimensity 7200 Pro.
Dimensity 7300: 5G Speed Test
Lastly, in the 5G speed test, the Dimensity 7300, equipped with MediaTek’s in-house 5G modem, supports dual 5G SIM connectivity and VoNR (Voice over New Radio). In our test on Jio’s 5G network, the CMF Phone 1 reached a maximum download speed of 339 Mbps and a maximum upload speed of 3.09 Mbps.
In summary, the Dimensity 7300 is a solid mid-range chipset from MediaTek, though the GPU performance is somewhat underwhelming. On the CPU side, despite using older cores, it maintains strong multi-threaded performance over extended periods. It remains to be seen whether the older cores impact battery life.
