Genshin Impact 4.1 is coming to an end, and the anticipation for Genshin Impact 4.2 is growing. In Genshin Impact 4.1, we were introduced to new characters like Neuvillette and Wriothesley, and the Archon Quest had its share of traumatic moments, particularly at Furina’s Knave’s tea party, while Neuvillette was away on a “business trip.” Genshin Impact 4.2 promises to bring significant lore expansion to the Fontaine region, new bosses, events, and, of course, those precious Primogems. Here’s everything we know so far about the Genshin Impact 4.2 release date, banners, characters, and more.
Genshin Impact 4.2 Launch Date
Genshin Impact version 4.2 is scheduled for release on November 8, right after the second phase of version 4.1 ends. Genshin Impact typically follows a 42-day version cycle with two 21-day phases. Since version 4.1 was released on September 27, its first phase ended on October 18, and the second phase is set to conclude on November 7. Players can expect the pre-installation feature to be available a few days before the Genshin Impact 4.2 release date, specifically on November 8.
Genshin Impact 4.2: Livestream Date
The Genshin Impact 4.2 Livestream was initially postponed due to the death of a Chinese official, and it has now been rescheduled for November 3, 2023. You can catch the Livestream on the official Genshin Impact Twitch channel first, followed by the game’s YouTube channel later in the day. Additionally, free Primogem codes have been revealed for the Genshin Impact 4.2 Livestream. Be sure to check out the codes to earn free Primogems.
Genshin Impact 4.2 Banners: Weapons and Characters
Genshin Impact 4.2 will introduce Furina and Baizhu as featured characters in the first half of the update, with Ayato and Cyno taking the spotlight in the second half. For four-star characters in the first half, you can expect to see Charolette, Beidou, and Collei, although details about the four-star characters in the second half are currently unavailable.
Regarding the weapon banner in Genshin Impact 4.2, the first phase will include Furina’s and Baizhu’s signature weapons, the Splendor of Tranquil Waters and Jadefall’s Splendor. In the second phase, the weapon banner will feature Staff of the Scarlet Sands and Haran Geppaku Futsu, which are the signature weapons of Cyno and Ayato, respectively. Stay tuned for more information about the weapons and characters in Genshin Impact 4.2 on the official website.”
Phase 1 of Genshin Impact 4.2 will bring the arrival of Charolette, a new 4-star character and one of the Steambird journalists. Her gameplay showcases distinctive and appealing mechanics.
For those set on summoning the Hydro Archon, we have prepared a comprehensive guide featuring the best builds for Furina, along with a pre-farming guide to enhance your farming efficiency. If you’re contemplating wishes to obtain Furina, we’ve also compiled a breakdown of the number of Primogems available in version 4.2, so be sure to take a look.”
Genshin Impact Map Expansion: What to Expect
As mentioned previously, Fontaine is set to expand further eastward, bridging the gap with Liyue and incorporating a range of new islands that extend the map’s eastern boundaries. This expansion encompasses both terrestrial areas and a substantial underwater region.
As previously mentioned, Fontaine is slated to expand eastwards towards Liyue, introducing a collection of new islands that extend the map’s eastern perimeter. This expansion encompasses both terrestrial terrain and a sizable underwater region, which appears to be extensive in scale.
Additionally, there is a enigmatic tower that appears to be secured by four seals, concealing a multitude of secrets within.
To provide you with some context, here is the current map of Fontaine.
As you can see in the map (and no, I didn’t zoom out to show off my progress), the current Fontaine map is elongated vertically rather than horizontally. Genshin Impact 4.2 is expected to expand the map to the right, towards Liyue. This expansion aligns with the rumors of the new Liyue region known as Chenyu Vale, which is rumored to arrive in Genshin Impact 4.4. According to various NPCs, many people enter Fontaine via Chenyu Vale, as traveling through the Sumeru Desert is a challenging endeavor.
Genshin Impact 4.2 Archon Quest: What Lies Ahead
Genshin Impact 4.2 introduces a new Archon quest called “Masquerade of the Guilty,” which is the final Archon quest for the Fontaine region, filled with intriguing new details. The trailer for this quest raises concerns about Furina’s fate, but the actual story development remains a mystery. The quest appears to involve characters such as Arlecchino, Neuvillette, the Traveler, and Navia, as indicated by the trailer.
Genshin Impact 4.2: Introduction of New Bosses
Genshin Impact 4.2 will introduce a new weekly boss that’s intricately connected to the game’s lore and Childe’s story. Similar to other weekly bosses, this Whale boss will have various phases, during which it will summon a humanoid figure that bears a striking resemblance to Childe. This character seems to combine aspects of Childe in his Foul Legacy form and the seven Knights encountered in the Chasm.
The introduction of this boss to the Spiral Abyss does not elicit excitement; we hope miHoYo shows some mercy! Additionally, the game will unveil Childe’s master, Skirk, whom he mentioned in the previous Archon quest. There’s hope that Skirk may become a playable character in the future.
Additionally, there’s another boss known as the Hydro Tulpa, and its materials are the source for Furina’s ascension materials.
Genshin Impact 4.2 Events: What’s in Store?
Genshin Impact 4.2 introduces four events, one of which is the flagship event. In even-numbered versions, Genshin Impact provides free characters, while in odd-numbered versions, it offers free weapons.
The 4.2 flagship event, hosted by NPC Thelxie, is a battle event that grants players various buffs to tackle challenges. By successfully completing event objectives, players can earn limited currency to obtain a free Freminet and other rewards.
Genshin Impact 4.2 features several other events, including:
- Five Flushes of Fortune
- Lil’ Fungi’s Fun-Tastic Fiesta
- Graph Adversarial Technology Experiment Log
- Misty Dungeon: Realm of Light
- Ley Line Overflow
Genshin Impact 4.2: Enhancements for Quality of Life
Genshin Impact 4.2 brings several quality-of-life (QoL) improvements, including:
Quick Start for Weekly Bosses
In Genshin Impact 4.2, the “Weekly Boss Remote Start” feature allows players to initiate a Weekly Boss fight from anywhere, with the exception of the Stormterror and Dominator of the Wolf bosses.
This feature streamlines the process, enabling players to save time by starting the boss fight directly from the Domains menu in the Traveler’s Handbook. However, it appears that this feature currently applies only to Trounce Domains.
Stellar Reunion Update
The Stellar Reunion UI has been revamped to be more user-friendly for players returning to Genshin Impact after an extended absence. The new menu will display the new regions, making it easier for returning players to familiarize themselves with the new content. Additionally, the Stellar Reunion menu will offer more rewards to incentivize returning players.
Quests and Notifications
In Genshin Impact 4.2, character Story Quests will no longer start automatically and clutter your quests section. Instead, when you unlock a Story Quest, you will need to press “Start story” to initiate the quest and have it appear in your list of quests. This change should help keep your quest list more organized.
Additionally, if you play the game on multiple platforms, dismissing notifications on one platform will prevent them from appearing on the other platform. This enhances the cross-platform experience. Furthermore, when you click on a quest, it will display all the prerequisite quests that need to be completed first in order to unlock the selected quest. These quality-of-life improvements should streamline your gameplay experience in Genshin Impact 4.2.
Lower Boss Difficulty
In Genshin Impact 4.2, players will have the option to lower a boss’s difficulty if they get stuck during a story quest. This feature will provide a way to make challenging boss fights more manageable for players who may be struggling.
